The video shows a comparative among different grid configurations. Our environment for real time microgrid simulation allows to simulate several grids in parallel with its own load curves and weather conditions. The aim of this video is to show the benefits of the distributed energy resources automatically controlled in microgrids with respect to microgrids with no management. There are line charts showing the generation capability, the demand, and the powergrid losses. We are developing a framework that enables the experimentation with grids in a realistic way. The decisions of the system are processed by a migrogrid tool called gridlabd. This tool performs static analysis of a microgrid to determine stable configurations and overloading situations. However, this tool is not designed to test facilities where decisions are made in run-time. So, we have devised a framework that interfaces with gridlabd to provide this functionality. There is a growing interest into smartgrids and most papers do mention agent technoly as a the key technology to actually make the powergrid smart. A smartgrid is supposed to apply intelligence to improve the generation, distribution, or consumption of electricity.
