Summary:
Technological systems are increasingly embedded in the daily lives of individuals, groups and organizations. The development of the emerging socio-technical systems requires multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, which combine technical knowledge and social analysis. The framework of the Activity Theory, coming from Social Sciences, has been successfully applied to  work with these aspects. In this talk, we will discuss its application in the development of two types of system: social simulations and tools to support collaborative efforts in communities of experts.
